Aqua Tofana was a potent and popular poison in 17th-century Italy, famously distributed by women like Giulia Tofana to victims of abusive marriages. It was a colorless, odorless, and tasteless mixture, often camouflaged in bottles labeled as a cosmetic or devotional item, like

"Manna di San Nicola". The poison's primary ingredient was arsenic, and its distribution highlights the desperate measures women took to escape their husbands when divorce was not an option.

This is the subject of this necklace. The pendant hangs from 19” of rectangular rhinestones set in silver tone metal. A stunning piece and conversation starter.
